Ever since we caught a glimpse of the impossibly cute Manolo kicks at J. Crew's latest show, we've been keeping our fingers crossed for a Manolo/J. Crew collaboration. Proving that fashion gods do exist, it looks like our wishes have come true.
Manolo President George Malkemus confirmed Tuesday that the luxury label will be releasing a limited collection with the oh-so-preppy brand.
Style maven and J. Crew President Jenna Lyons is a famous fan of Blahnik's popular BB style, so it comes as no surprise that the luxury label was chosen to design the fabulous footwear for the brand's Fall 2012 line. In true Lyons fashion, the classic stiletto was revitalized with unexpected colors and prints.
Manolo Blahnik shoes may be synonymous with high fashion (read: Carrie Bradshaw and the Vogue closet), so it's excitingly unexpected for the upscale brand to collaborate with an affordable retailer like J. Crew. “It’s a way of bringing high and low together,” Malkemus explains. “This is the way modern women dress today, and nobody does it better than J.Crew.”
The official release date has yet to be finalized, but the shoes will be available online and in select J. Crew stores, priced between $595 to $645.
